Bead Trunk Show, One-Day Only, at Beads N Botanicals in downtown Urbana, from 11am to 4pm on Sunday, November 13.

This one-day event features the works of Jamie Bossert. Strands of precious and semi-precious stones will be available, including the following: iolite, peridot, tourmaline, garnet, citrine, carnelian, labrodorite, rubies, emeralds, sapphires, aquamarine, opal, amethyst, lapis lazuli and more.

Jewelry artists will appreciate the beauty of Jamie's work. These are incredible beads that you won't find elsewhere.

Jamie Bossert an lapidary artisan from the Blue Springs, Missouri has been fascinated with rocks  since she was 10 years old. That is when she started working with her grandfather tumbling and polishing stones to set jewelry for her grandmother, mother, and aunt.  After working in her father's industrial tool company's machinery shop, she learned  how to cut, grind and drill her own stones.  Her passion for  the simple  river rock stones, the mountains she sees in her travels,  and gemstones shows in the unique and beautiful strands of semi-precious and precious stones that she sells.

Please Note: All beads, beading supplies, and pendants normally available at Beads N Botanicals will be available at a fifteen percent discount, just for the day of the Bead Trunk Show (discount does not apply to beads from the One-Day Only Trunk Show by artisan Jamie Bossert).

Ghost Stories & Book Signing with Author Michael Kleen: Haunted Illinois

Join us on Friday, October 21, from 4:30pm to 6:30pm, when author Michael Kleen will appear for a book signing at Beads N Botanicals. (Ghost stories at 5:30pm)


Michael will talk about some of the most interesting stories and places from the area, including stories of the abandoned Chanute Air Force Base, the tragic love story of Urbana High School's tower, the ghosts of U of I, a giant snake that was seen in 1896, and more!


Haunting Illinois: A Tourist's Guide to the Weird and Wild Places of the Prairie State: For over a decade, Michael Kleen, author of the Legends and Lore of Illinois, has researched and traveled to mystery spots all over the Prairie State. Now, he has created the most organized and comprehensive guide to haunted and legendary places ever written about Illinois. Haunting Illinois is that guide. Haunting Illinois contains 200 mystery sites and 85 individual illustrations. In this book, Michael not only examines the sites, but also the hobbyists and professionals who have devoted their lives to exploring the strange and unusual in our great state. Divided among eight distinct regions and listed by county, each location features a description, directions, and sources drawn from a diverse variety of books and articles. Bio:Michael Kleen earned a M.A. in History from Eastern Illinois University in 2008 and a M.S. in Education from Western Illinois University in 2011. He is the author of numerous books, including Tales of Coles County, Illinois, Six Tales of Terror, Haunting Illinois: A Tourist's Guide to the Weird and Wild Places of the Prairie State, and Paranormal Illinois. Michael has spoken about local history and folklore at conventions, libraries, cafes, schools, and colleges; and he has presented research papers at the 2007, 2010, and 2011 Conference on Illinois History in Springfield.
